Teacher's 'No Homework' TikTok Goes Viral

A high school English teacher in the US has gone viral after sharing videos on TikTok explaining why she doesn't give her students homework.

Courtney White from Texas has almost 600,000 followers on TikTok.

Many of the 27-year-old's videos are about her work as a teacher.

White shared a short video showing her hand ready for a handshake, as if she were meeting someone, with the words,

The "no homework" video has now been liked 443,000 times and has 14,500 comments.

A lot of people wrote that they agreed with White.

However, some people had questions for the teacher.

One comment asked, "Isn't homework practice to make sure they're actually learning?"

White has made three more videos explaining why she doesn't assign homework.

In one of the videos, she said there is no proof that doing homework makes students work better in class.

White said in one of the videos, which now has 1.3 million likes and over 51,000 comments.

White also said that a lot of her students are busy after school, with some having to take care of younger brothers and sisters when they get home.
